Tom, my husband and I are just reserving the OAT trip "Turkey's Magical Hideaways" for April 2009. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your blog. It helped in making our decision. Thank you for doing all the writing and for the details. At the moment, OAT has us booked at the Marmara Pera hotel in Istanbul. You were at Hotel Armada. Did you see this hotel? Thanks. Barbara
Tom, first, you write remarkably well. Your pix are also very good. My wife & I took the same "TMH" OAT trip 09/30/09 thru 10/14/09 (I don't count days en route/flight). This was our 1st OAT/GCT trip. Our experiences were much the same as yours, tho with some differences (eg, our gulet was -really- nice). I have yet to sort our pix to a less then intimidating pile, but now see -vast- array of OAT tour pix are already on the web! Bottom line, for friends who ask, I'll point them to your link, as you have done a far better job than I think I can do. :-) Thx, Jeremy
I am a retired professor of political science and international relations. I enjoy teaching very much and have won several teaching awards. I am married to a wonderful person, have two children, a daughter-in-law, and a grand daughter. I am an inveterate traveler and have visited 72 countries so far. I have lived in Italy, India and Russia, and taught or lectured at universities in India, Pakistan and Russia. India is my favorite travel destination; I have been there six times, and have spent extended periods of time in New Delhi, Chennai and Kerala. I love mountains, snowfall, hiking and skiing. I have hiked in the Alps, Nepali Khumbu, Indian Himalayas, Andes, Rockies, Appalachians, and Adirondacks, and have skied throughout the
Alps and the United States. I like to share my travel adventures with others and my blogs will do that.
